Am I In Canada?

First game of Day 2: East Lansing Trojans vs. Saginaw Trojans

This makes game stories really awkward to write.

Trojans is the most popular nickname of the weekend - Cedarville also uses it, so that's three of 16. The others are Doughboys (Detroit Pershing), Eagles (Romulus), Maroons (Menonimee), Cougars (Lansing Catholic), Chargers (Flint Powers Catholic), Huskies (Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern), Fighting Irish (Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard), Comets (Kalamazoo Christian), Miners (Negaunee), Bucs (Flint Beecher), Warriors (Muskegon Western Michigan Christian), Tigers (Lawrence) and Bears (Detroit City).

By the way, Saginaw has some wild uniforms. The jerseys are black with a wide diagonal yellow stripe and a smaller white stripe above it. Underneath the yellow stripe is the word "HIGH" in white, also diagonally, and then their number, also slanted.

On the back, "TROJANS" is written on the yellow stripe in white, which isn't a very good idea, and then the numbers, still diagonal. No player names.

The shorts are black, with a vertical yellow stripe down the right leg. On the stripe are three stars - black, white, black.

I'd have to see a photo, but I know the high school uniform rules are pretty tight, and I'm surprised that's legal.

Do the Doughboys come out on the court after somebody pops a giant can? And will they rise to the occasion?

Check the Free Press and/or Detroit News websites in a couple hours. They'll get a lot of play - they have Mr. Basketball and they are crushing East Lansing. It's 44-26 in the third quarter.

I don't know. Are you in Canada?

So you have to write about East Lansing and Saginaw instead of Trojans and Trojans, for clarity?
